When you place your trust with In Every Language, you and your company aren't the only people who benefit. Your community does as well. In Every Language's focus isn't on what makes us different from our competitors, it's on the difference we can make.
From our school outreach project to our free translation program for refugees, we make helping others our priority. We're not driven by money, we're driven by change, and the work we do in our community has made such a difference, that it's been officially recognized by two Kentucky governors. In Every Language is also a certified B Corporation.
We know that putting our commitment to community on our home page might not be the quickest way to get you to do business with us. But before we get down to business, it's only fair to let you know who you're doing business with. We're not driven by the dollar, we're driven by the difference. This is who we are and what we set out to do when we go into work every day. And we would love to call you our partner in improving not just the way you and your company communicate, but in improving our world.

If You Can Read This, Thank a Translator
This summer, we will award $1,000 of in-kind interpreting services to a medical provider in the Louisville, Ky area that has never worked with professional interpreters before. Through this grant, In Every Language hopes to help providers understand the vital difference that professional interpreters can make in the course of patient care. If the program is a success--which we're sure it will be--then our intent is to widen the grant to include the other metro areas In Every Language serves. (Let us know if you think your city should be next!) In Every Language is proud to participate in the American Translators Association School Outreach Program. According to the ATA, "an astonishing number of teachers are actively discouraging their students from studying foreign languages because 'there are no jobs other than teaching.'" But by teaching these students about translating and interpreting, we're opening up a whole new realm of career possibilities and broadening their world.

Domestic Violence Interpreting Certification
Together with other organizations across the Commonwealth, In Every Language has joined the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association’s task force for the development of domestic violence interpreting certification. As there is currently no domestic violence interpreting certification available in the United States, the certification will be the first of its kind. The Interpreter Certification Project hopes that its certification model, once complete, can be used to qualify or certify domestic violence interpreters in other states. This project therefore only not positively impacts victims of domestic violence in Kentucky, but has the capability to help people throughout the nation.
In honor of this work, In Every Language also conducted a fundraiser in September 2009 for the Center for Women and Families, a domestic violence shelter and rape crisis center located in Louisville. For every new "fan" In Every Language got on its Facebook page, a donation was made to the Center.

The In Every Language Free Translation Project provides Louisville-area refugees with English versions of the documents they need to find work. One month of the year, in one language per year, refugees can get their educational documentation translated for free. On paper, we do it for three reasons: to help refugees find work, to strengthen Kentucky's workforce, and to raise awareness of the needs of the limited-English proficient population. But really we do it because it needs to be done.
The In Every Language Free Translation Project has been highlighted on WHAS-11 (ABC) and by Business First's 2007 "Diversity Works" issue. It's also received recognition from two Kentucky governors, Martha Layne Collins and Steve Beshear.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is federal law guaranteeing everyone in the United States equal access to federally-funded programs and activities, regardless of the language they speak. To learn more about Title VI,please click here. Like most rights, however, people have a hard time exercising them if they don't know about them.
So, we work to make sure they know. From setting up at immigrant health fairs to distributing copies of the law in English and in foreign languages, we work to teach limited-English proficient (LEP) people about Title VI. These efforts have been so successful, our CEO was chosen to speak about Title VI at the American Translators Association - Translation Company Division's 2009 annual conference.

Continuing Education for Lawyers & Healthcare Providers (CLE's & CME's)
While it's any seller's responsibility to educate a buyer on how to use its services, In Every Language goes beyond the call of duty in this area by teaching anyone who will listen how to best work with an interpreter, whether our listeners are clients or not. Many of our competitors also offer CLE's and CME's, but their spirit is entirely different. They only offer sessions to current clients, plus they charge people to participate. Here at In Every Language, we believe a better understanding of how interpreters do what they do helps us all to communicate more clearly. To that end, we offer continuing legal education (CLE) sessions through the Louisville Bar and continuing medical education (CME) sessions through Kentucky hospitals.

If You Can Read This, Thank a Translator
Louisville's artistic, educational, and political communities came together at In Every Language's "If You Can Read This, Thank a Translator" event. In honor of International Translators' Day, community leaders selected favorite poems translated into English from other languages. Readers included Honorary Consul of France to Kentucky John Lina, Judge Angela McCormick Bisig, and Dawne Gee from WAVE 3 (NBC) News, as well as government employees, poets, and professors from the University of Louisville and Indiana University Southeast.
